Memphis TN, 2008

We made plans with Scott and Ginny and their two boys, Andrew and Preston. After eating way to much Thanksgiving dinner and getting up really REALLY early so that the daughters and son-in-laws could go get in lines for the Christmas shopping at 4:30am in the morning. Bob went back to sleep and I tried till Cade and Brady woke up. As soon as mommies and daddies returned with lots of bargains, we headed to pick up our RV. from Oklahoma City RV Rental in Edmond.

Nov 28th

We picked up RV at 10:00 am. The RV had 7289 miles on the speedometer. We went back home to pack up the RV. We left right at noon. Memphis is 465 miles about 6 hours 51 mins

We met Scott and Ginny 4:00 pm at the Walmart in Fort Smith AR. By the time we got to Fort Smith we had to fill up that big gas tank. I drove and we decided that this is what we really want to get. Bob wants a bigger bus, but I am just afraid that I couldn't drive it. Ginny and I fixed sandwiches and we ate and played all kinds of games with Andrew. We sit in the back on the bed. At the table. On the couch. Walked about. Drank and had a really good time. Made the ride go by really fast. But it's not much for watching the scenery go by

We arrived in Tunica, MS. at 10:00 pm. We headed to Harrah's Casino but the RV park was locked and couldn't get in. So we headed to Sam's town. Parked the RV in Lot 102 and headed to the casino. I won $76.00, Scott won $200 and Bob lost $100. Ginny had drank to much on the ride so she had to go back to the RV. We ate at a lunch counter at the casino. They really mixed up our order and then they brought us another 2 sandwiches just like the two we were eating. So we boxed them up and took them back to the trailor. The boys would eat them at a later time.

Nov 29th

We had Breakfast Buffet at "Paula Deans" in the Harrah Casino

We parked our RV and traveled back and forth to Beale Street. It was a great location for downtown.

HAT:

The WHOLE PURPOSE of this trip was to buy a hat at Mister Hats. Bob had seen an advertisement on the airplane about a hat store that he has never been to. The lady at the RV park (She had a really terrible name to pronounce) with a little poodle named "Killer". She gave us a ride to the Hat store. She had a big car and all 6 of us fit in, so we took her up on it. It had a GPS so we didn't think that we could get too lost., she was a really nice lady from Paris and her husband had just died and she was really lonely.

Alvin Lansky is the owner of the hat store. He signed Bob's advertisement from the nwa WorldTraveler. He said that he would clean Bob's old hat that he had no his head, so he had to buy two hats. The store was going to ship it back to Oklahoma. Bob had bought a straw hat for the summer and then a brown felt hat to wear. Bob loves his hats. We will be going back to the Mister Hats store. A couple of weeks after we got home, the store called and asked what size was Bob's hat. Seems they weren't really sure what hat was Bob's. Then I got a little worried. I found the size of his hats and they said that I would get it in a couple of days. AND I DID! So the end of this hat story came out all right.

The lady from the RV park then took us to get a rental car. On the way she ran a couple of red lights. Ginny and I was holding on and trying not to laugh out loud.

It was rainy, not actually raining on us, but still a little cold and wet. But we still enjoyed Beale Street. Ginny and I got sweatshirts alike. BealeStreet

DUCKS:

With its unique architecture and décor, the hotel in downtown Memphis is truly a gem ...Famous for the Duck March in the Grand Lobby.

We arrived just in time for Andrew and Preston to see the ducks get out of the fountain and walk to the elevator and up the elevator to there home on the roof. We had Bloody Mary's at the bar while the kids watched the ducks.

Nov 30th

Andrew, Bob and I went to Starbucks for Coffee. Then we went to IHOP for a big breakfast. Scott and Ginny took the boys to Elvis's Graceland. We dropped them off and went to Walmart. We drove around the town and then picked them up and headed out to find BB! for super.

BBQ:

Corky's BBQ is the only place to eat BBQ in Memphis. We had a great waitress and all of the food was consumed!!

We were going to go out again to Beale street. But we got home and Bob fell asleep. We had partied the night before and was all in for just watching movies and enjoying the RV. We all crashed a little early.

Dec 1st

We got up and fixed breakfast in the trailer. Returned the rental car and then headed down the highway for home. Ate at Taco Bell and Dropped Scott and Ginny off in Ft. Smith. GOOD FRIENDS some really good food and a WHOLE LOT OF GOOD TIMES!

The RV had 8301 miles on the speedometer. We had to pay for milate over 1000 miles. We were so close that he let us slide. Gas wasn't out of line. I never did figure out how much we really used. 465 miles. I know that we filed up 4 times. It was a great trip. We liked the RV and will buy one as soon as we get back from India this next time.
