E-Z Soft Pretzels


  • 2 1/4 c all purpose
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1 1/3 c warm water
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 1/2 c whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 c wheat germ
  • 1 tsp salt
  • coarse salt
  • sesame or poppy seeds
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix 2 cups of flour and yeast in a large bowl.
  • Add water, oil and honey. Beat on medium speed 4 minutes.
  • Add whole wheat flour, salt, wheat germ and remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  • Knead on a lightly floured surface 3-4 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover and let rest 5 minutes. Divide into 9 equal pieces.
  • Roll each into a 15 inch rope and roll lightlly in salt or seeds.
  • Shape in a pretzel.
  • Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
