Home Made Bread

  • 1 pkg. Yeast
  • 1 Tbsp Salt
  • 1/2 C. Warm Water
  • 2 Tbsp. Shortening
  • 1 3/4 C. Warm Liquid*
  • 4 C. + 3 3/4 C. Flour
  • 3 Tbsp. Sugar
  • Dissolve yeast in water. Add all remaining ingredients except last part of flour.
  • BEAT
  • Add remaining flour.
  • Knead for 10 minutes.
  • Place in greased bowl
  • Cover - let raise 1 to 2 hours.
  • Punch down
  • Raise 45 - 60 minutes
  • Put in 2 loaf pans.
  • Let rise 50-60 minutes
  • Bake 425 - 25 - 30 min
  • * Milkd should be scalded then cooled
